Terms of Service

Terms for professional use of the Aethis website and services, including accounts, subscriptions, customer data, and early-access features.

Last updated: 7 September 2026.

About Aethis and these terms

Aethis is an unincorporated project based in Singapore. “Aethis”, “we”, and “us” refer to the project and its operator, not an incorporated company. Contact hello@aethis.io about these terms.

Aethis is an AI-agent governance platform that helps organisations define policies and permissions, require human approval for selected actions, govern supported model and tool activity, and maintain Action Records. Controls depend on the supported integrations, configuration, and enforcement paths in use. Aethis does not guarantee that every action is governed or that using the service makes a deployment compliant with law.

“Services” means the Aethis website and hosted services made available to you under these terms. “Materials” means our software, documentation, and original service content, excluding Customer Data and third-party materials. “Customer Data” means information you or your authorised users submit, connect, configure, or cause the Services to process, including policies, configurations, agent inputs, model and tool data, and related records. “Outputs” means results generated by an AI feature or a connected model; these are distinct from feedback and publicly submitted content.

“You” means the individual accepting these terms or the organisation they are authorised to represent. Organisational users may use the Services through their authorised employees, contractors, and agents, subject to the applicable plan and these terms.

The Services are intended primarily for organisational and professional use. The current public website provides information, contact, and early-access entry points; it does not itself offer public accounts or checkout. Account, subscription, and payment provisions apply only when those services are made available and you sign up for them. Joining the waitlist does not create a paid subscription or guarantee access.

Agreement and mandatory rights

By accepting these terms when signing up for a Service, or using a Service that makes these terms applicable, you agree to them. If you act for an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind it. You must be at least 18 and have the legal capacity required in your jurisdiction to enter this agreement. Keep information supplied for your account and billing accurate and current.

The Privacy Policy explains public-site personal information handling. Customer product processing, where applicable, is subject to the relevant data-processing agreement or contractual privacy terms, not a general permission inferred from the public-site policy.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits mandatory consumer, privacy, or other statutory rights, remedies, or protections. Where those rights apply, they take priority over inconsistent terms. Service descriptions and pre-contractual information that are legally binding remain binding.

A separately agreed order, design-partner agreement, service schedule, or data-processing agreement takes precedence over these terms for its specific subject matter to the extent of a conflict. A service-level agreement applies only if separately agreed; these base terms do not promise uptime, service credits, or support response or resolution times.

Permitted and prohibited use

The Acceptable Use Policy forms part of these terms, subject to the precedence of separately agreed terms described above.

Subject to these terms and your applicable plan, you may access the Services for your own professional or organisational purposes, including authorised agent workflows and integrations. Use of documented APIs and automation within their authorised scope is permitted.

You must not:

  • Use the Services unlawfully, fraudulently, to distribute malware or spam, or to infringe another person’s intellectual property, privacy, or other rights.
  • Access accounts, systems, credentials, or data without authorisation, bypass access controls or usage limits, or knowingly exploit a vulnerability outside authorised security testing.
  • Disrupt the Services or other users, conduct abusive scraping, or exceed agreed technical limits.
  • Misrepresent your authority, impersonate another person, or use the Services in breach of applicable sanctions or export-control laws.
  • Copy, resell, or reverse engineer our proprietary software except as permitted by us, an applicable licence, or mandatory law; remove required proprietary notices; or present our service as your own without permission.

You are responsible for your authorised users’ compliance, the rights needed to provide Customer Data, and the legality and suitability of your workflows. Configure permissions and approval gates appropriately and review consequential actions. This does not relieve Aethis of its own contractual or legal responsibilities.

Report suspected vulnerabilities through our responsible disclosure process. Good-faith criticism, reviews, and reporting concerns are not grounds for suspension merely because they are unfavourable to Aethis.

Accounts and security

Where accounts are offered, protect credentials and keys, use the security controls available for your account, manage authorised users, and promptly notify us of suspected compromise. Do not share personal credentials; use supported access-management mechanisms for organisational access.

Where single sign-on or another identity integration is made available, the relevant provider’s terms also apply. We process identity information only as needed for the enabled account functionality and applicable privacy terms. This clause does not promise availability of any particular identity provider or account feature.

We may access account information as reasonably necessary to deliver authorised support, investigate abuse or security incidents, comply with law, or operate the Services, subject to appropriate access restrictions and applicable contractual privacy terms.

Each party remains responsible for its own security obligations and acts or omissions. You are not automatically responsible for all unauthorised activity merely because it occurred through your account. Any responsibility for losses depends on the circumstances, the parties’ respective obligations, applicable law, and the liability provisions below. We do not disclaim responsibility for our own breach simply because an incident involves unauthorised access.

You may request account closure by contacting us. Accrued payment obligations remain payable, but they do not remove rights to deletion of personal information under applicable law. Applicable retention and export arrangements govern Customer Data when access ends.

Subscriptions, prices, and payment

Aethis offers tiered plans, including a free Dev tier and paid monthly or annual subscriptions. Where paid access is available, the applicable order or checkout will state the price, currency, taxes, billing frequency, usage limits, subscription term, and renewal conditions before you agree. An organisational subscription covers authorised users within its agreed scope; it is not a licence to resell the Services.

When paid checkout is made available, payments and subscription management are processed through Stripe unless another processor is disclosed at checkout or in the applicable order. Supported payment methods are those actually displayed at checkout; these terms do not promise particular card brands or wallets. Payment-provider terms and privacy information apply to their processing, and Aethis remains responsible for its own contractual obligations.

You authorise only the charges disclosed and agreed for your subscription or order. Monthly and annual paid subscriptions automatically renew for the selected term unless cancelled before renewal, as disclosed and accepted before purchase. When paid subscriptions are available, you may cancel renewal through the self-service Stripe/customer billing flow, or the disclosed alternative processor’s billing flow if applicable. If you need help with cancellation, contact hello@aethis.io. Cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the current paid term, with access continuing until then, unless the applicable order or mandatory law provides otherwise.

Upgrades, downgrades, and any associated charges or credits will be explained before they take effect. Cancellation does not ordinarily entitle you to a refund for an unused portion of the current term, except as provided by an applicable agreement, these terms, or mandatory law. We will give advance notice of renewal price changes and an opportunity to cancel before the changed price applies.

Keep billing details current and report suspected billing errors or unauthorised payments promptly. We will investigate disputed charges and notify you of a proposed correction. A failed payment may lead to suspension after reasonable notice and an opportunity to resolve it, unless immediate action is needed for fraud, security, or legal reasons. Your bank or payment provider may apply its own disclosed fees.

Free and Dev services

Free and Dev users receive community-based support only, with no guaranteed response or resolution time unless separately stated in an applicable written service schedule or agreement. Access to free services does not establish an uptime commitment or entitlement to paid support.

We may change free-service limits or discontinue free access for reasonable operational, security, legal, or business reasons. Where practicable, we will give notice of material changes and an opportunity to retrieve Customer Data. Free use remains subject to applicable law and the data protections in these terms.

Third-party services and integrations

Connected models, tools, identity systems, and other third-party services may have separate terms, fees, availability, and data practices. You are responsible for obtaining the permissions and subscriptions needed for integrations you select. We do not control an independent provider’s systems or guarantee their availability or outputs.

Enabling a connection authorises the data exchanges necessary to perform the workflows you configure. Review the relevant provider’s terms and data settings before connecting sensitive information. Aethis’s own data-use restrictions do not alter a third-party provider’s terms; nor does this section excuse Aethis from responsibility for providers it engages to perform its own contractual obligations.

Customer Data, AI outputs, and model training

You retain your rights in Customer Data. You grant Aethis a non-exclusive permission to host, transmit, copy, and process that data only as reasonably necessary to provide, troubleshoot, secure, maintain, and support the Services you request, investigate incidents, and evaluate service quality, safety, reliability, or performance, carry out your documented instructions, and meet applicable legal obligations. Providers acting for Aethis may exercise those permissions only as needed to deliver those functions and subject to appropriate confidentiality and data-protection obligations.

This is not a general right to publish, sell, promote with, or independently exploit Customer Data. Permissions end when no longer needed for the agreed service, subject to lawful retention, agreed export arrangements, and normal backup rotation. A transfer of the service under the assignment clause does not expand these data-use permissions.

Aethis will not use Customer Data, agent/model/tool inputs, Outputs, or customer configurations to train or fine-tune shared or general-purpose AI models unless you explicitly agree to that specific use in a separate agreement. General acceptance of these terms, enabling an integration, or receiving a privacy notice is not that agreement. We will not authorise our service providers to make such use on our behalf without that agreement.

We may process Customer Data and operational telemetry to the limited extent reasonably necessary to provide the Services, troubleshoot, secure the Services, investigate incidents, and evaluate service quality, safety, reliability, or performance. This processing remains subject to the applicable agreement, data-processing agreement, and privacy obligations. It does not permit converting customer payloads, configurations, or Outputs into shared or general-purpose model-training data. Any such training or fine-tuning requires the separate explicit agreement described above.

AI-generated Outputs are not classified as “User-Generated Content” under these terms. As between you and Aethis, Aethis claims no ownership of your Outputs solely because they passed through the Services. Rights in Outputs may depend on applicable law, third-party model terms, and the rights of others; we do not guarantee uniqueness, copyright protection, or freedom from third-party claims.

AI results can be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable. Review them before relying on them, especially for consequential actions. Governance records and approval gates are not a substitute for professional judgment or customer responsibilities. Where Aethis provides an AI feature, feature-specific instructions and any additional agreed terms apply.

Our responsibilities under applicable AI legislation, including the EU AI Act where applicable, depend on our role in the particular feature, activity, and deployment. We do not assume a single provider or deployer role for every use. Each party is responsible for the obligations applicable to its own activities; these terms do not transfer away mandatory legal responsibilities.

Optional feedback and intellectual property

Aethis and its licensors retain rights in the Services and Materials. You receive the limited access and use rights described in these terms; no ownership of our software or brand is transferred. Open-source and other third-party components remain subject to their applicable licences.

If you voluntarily provide non-confidential suggestions or feature feedback, you permit us to use those suggestions to improve the Services without a payment obligation. This permission does not include Customer Data, confidential information, or model-training rights, even if supplied alongside feedback. You are not required to provide feedback.

There is no blanket requirement to attribute Aethis when distributing your exported records, Customer Data, or Outputs. Preserve third-party or open-source notices where the relevant licence requires them. You may refer to Aethis factually, but must not imply endorsement or use our logo as your own without permission.

Contact us about suspected infringement with enough detail to identify the material and your rights. We may restrict material where reasonably necessary to address unlawful use or a credible rights complaint, while respecting applicable law and customer confidentiality.

Beta and experimental features

Beta, preview, and experimental features may change, contain defects, or be withdrawn, and are not guaranteed to reach general availability. Their permitted use is described in the applicable programme or design-partner agreement. These base terms do not limit all beta use to non-commercial internal testing; public demonstrations and commercial pilots may be permitted within the programme’s agreed scope.

A feature’s existence, public documentation, or publicly announced capabilities are not automatically confidential. Confidentiality applies to non-public information identified as confidential, or that reasonably should be understood as confidential in context, and to any separately agreed confidentiality terms. It does not cover information already public without breach, independently developed, or lawfully obtained without restriction. Legally required disclosures remain permitted, with notice where lawful and practicable.

Use experimental features only for workloads appropriate to their stated limitations. They do not carry an SLA unless one is expressly agreed. We will give notice of withdrawal where practicable and respect agreed data-return and confidentiality obligations.

Service updates and availability

Aethis is primarily a hosted web service. We may deploy updates to its hosted software, interfaces, APIs, and integrations without requiring you to install a desktop or mobile application. If separately distributed software or an SDK is offered, its update and compatibility arrangements will be described in its documentation or licence.

We may make reasonable operational, security, legal, and product changes. For material changes that adversely affect agreed core functionality, we will provide advance notice unless urgent security or legal circumstances prevent it. Where such a change materially reduces your paid service, you may terminate the affected subscription within 30 days of notice and receive a proportionate refund for the unused prepaid period, subject to any more favourable agreed or mandatory rights.

For discontinuation of an ongoing paid service, we will ordinarily provide at least 30 days’ notice and a proportionate refund for the period we no longer provide. Where earlier discontinuation is necessary for legal or urgent security reasons, we will give as much notice as reasonably possible. These change and refund provisions are not uptime or support guarantees.

Descriptions, screenshots, and early-access documentation may evolve. They are not an SLA or a promise of an unpurchased feature. This does not override an express service commitment in your order or binding information required by law.

Suspension, termination, and data return

We may suspend or terminate affected access where reasonably necessary to address a material breach, unlawful or fraudulent activity, a security threat, unauthorised use, unpaid undisputed charges, or a binding legal requirement. Measures should be proportionate to the issue. Good-faith criticism of Aethis is not a ground for termination.

Where an issue can be remedied and immediate action is unnecessary, we will give notice and a reasonable opportunity to remedy it. We may act immediately for urgent security, fraud, or legal reasons, with an explanation when lawful and safe. Contact us to request review of a suspension or termination decision.

When a subscription ends, access rights for that subscription end and amounts already due remain payable. Before routine permanent deletion of Customer Data, we will ordinarily provide at least 30 days from notification for data retrieval where technically feasible, unless legal, security, fraud-prevention, agreed retention, or other applicable contractual requirements require otherwise. Any more favourable data-return rights in an applicable data-processing agreement, order, or customer agreement are preserved. Account closure does not extinguish statutory privacy rights.

Warranties and limitations of liability

Subject to express commitments in an applicable agreement and rights that cannot lawfully be excluded, the Services are provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties of satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, error-free outputs, or that every risk will be detected or prevented.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, neither party is liable under these base terms for indirect or consequential losses arising from the Services. This does not exclude direct losses merely because they concern data, security, or service performance.

Subject to the exceptions below and to the extent permitted by applicable law, Aethis’s total aggregate liability to you arising out of or in connection with these terms or the Services will not exceed the greater of (a) the fees paid by you to Aethis in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) US$100.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. All exclusions and limits are subject to applicable statutory protections and requirements of reasonableness.

Third-party claims

For organisational customers, you are responsible for third-party claims to the extent caused by your unlawful use, infringement through Customer Data you supply without the necessary rights, or material breach of these terms. Subject to applicable law, you will indemnify Aethis’s operator for reasonable damages and costs finally awarded or agreed in settlement for those claims. This does not cover claims caused by Aethis’s own breach, negligence, or misconduct.

We must promptly notify you of a claim, allow a reasonable opportunity to participate in its defence, and take reasonable steps to mitigate loss. Neither party may settle a claim in a way that admits fault or imposes an obligation on the other without that party’s written consent, not unreasonably withheld. This clause does not impose a business indemnity on a consumer where prohibited or unfair under applicable law.

Events outside reasonable control

Neither party is responsible for failure to perform to the extent caused by events beyond its reasonable control, such as natural disasters, widespread network failures, or binding government action. An incident is not excused merely because it involves a cyberattack or a provider if the affected party’s own breach caused or materially contributed to the failure.

The affected party must take reasonable steps to mitigate the effects, notify the other where practicable, and resume performance when possible. This clause does not remove obligations to pay amounts already due, applicable refund rights, or responsibilities that law does not permit a party to exclude.

Singapore law and resolving disputes

These terms are governed by Singapore law, subject to mandatory protections that apply to you elsewhere. Singapore courts have jurisdiction, without depriving a consumer of a mandatory right to bring proceedings in another competent court.

Before starting ordinary litigation, either party should send written notice describing the dispute and proposed resolution. The parties will try in good faith to resolve it informally for 30 days after receipt. Send notices to hello@aethis.io.

Either party may seek urgent protective or injunctive relief without waiting. This process does not prevent a regulatory complaint, require you to miss a legal filing deadline, or restrict mandatory remedies.

Changes, notices, and general terms

We may update these terms with reasonable advance notice of material changes by email or another appropriate durable means. We will obtain renewed acceptance where required. Urgent legal or security changes may take effect sooner where necessary. Changes do not retrospectively remove accrued rights or override separately agreed commitments. If you do not accept a material change, you may stop using the affected Services and exercise applicable cancellation rights.

Email is sufficient for notices unless law requires another method. Keep your account contact details current. A notice must be delivered to the designated address; evidence of failed delivery means it should be resent by an appropriate means.

Neither party may assign the agreement in a way that reduces the other’s rights or increases its obligations without consent. Aethis’s operator may transfer it as part of an incorporation or transfer of the project, with notice and subject to applicable law, preserving customer rights and data protections. This does not represent that incorporation has already occurred.

If a provision is unenforceable, the remainder continues to apply to the extent possible. Delay in enforcing a right does not waive it. These terms and applicable agreed orders and schedules form the agreement on their subject matter; customer purchase-order boilerplate does not change it without written agreement. Mandatory pre-contractual information and statutory rights remain effective.

Provisions that by their nature need to continue, including accrued payment obligations, confidentiality, data protections, intellectual property, and dispute provisions, survive termination as appropriate. Headings aid navigation and do not alter meaning.
